PERSONAL LIES

Telling yourself the truth can be more of a challenge than being honest with other people. Perhaps it has to do with the missing 'getting caught' factor.

The monologues, dialogues and conversations that go on in one's mind between the critic, the self, the higher Self and all the various aspects of the inner mind, the inner heart, the inner eyes … are unseen and unchecked by others. So they don't count, right? Thinking something, whether its real or evil or right or wrong or 'a sin' or illegal or a lie … doesn't matter! One's thoughts are, thankfully, still one's own.

'Getting away' with Not telling the truth, to oneself, is innocent. No one is getting hurt. It doesn't matter, not really. Really?

The genuine truth is that we do know, and we know that we know — all of the assorted 'stuff' that we pretend not to see or recognize for what it is … or isn't (read: avoid looking at).

Hard to believe? Think about it. Personal lies come in a variety of configurations. Consider (if you dare:)) if any of the following seems familiar because it appears in your own repetoire of personal lies.

  • Denial: that the current reality even exisits.
  • Its Not my fault: Poor innocent me. Bad them. Therefore, what I think and what I do is justified.
  • Entitlement Mentality: My position on the current issue is justified.
  • Failed Memory: Another version of ITS not MY fault.
