Teach your kids to turn off the water while they brush their teeth. Unless the weather is cold & crispy or buckets of rain are falling from the sky, hang your clothes to dry instead of using a dryer.

If you have no other choice, at least be sure that the size of load your'e drying is big enough to warrent the use of the electricity. Otherwise, wait to use the dryer.
As well as choosing for products for their quality and price choose products with lean packaging. Refuse products in non-recyclable packaging. Awareness and social responsibility have come far enough that, in most cases, you won't have to do without. There are alternatives.

A company that is still using 'throw-away' packaging doesn't deserve your patronage. Remember: Every dollar you spend is a vote for what you believe in!
Recycle a little bucket with a lid to start a kitchen compost. Gather organic leftovers.
Switch to newspaper for gift wrapping.
Protect breakable items for travel by surrounding them in popped corn.
Instead of filling an entire sink with soapy water for just a few dishes, choose a pot or pan that needs washing anyway and use it as your dishpan. Build bat houses. Having a cool place to hang out:) will invite them to feast on mosquitos in your yard.
Plan your shopping habits to reduce car trips.
Always B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Bag) when you go ... anyywhere!
Ban plastic wrap from your kitchen. Buy reusable containers instead.
Develop a colour-code system for using sponges instead of paper towels. Try pink for food and food surfaces, green for creative messes like paint and glue and yellow for really yucky cleanups like pet barf & toilets.

(Be sure to launder sponges at least once a week.) Keep a set of cutlery in your car for fast food meals. Refuse their plasic wrapped, plastic ware.
Put a recyle bin in every room.
Get your lawn of grass. Nature prefers diversity to large expanses of plush grass carpet. Try drought resistent ground covers.
Buy local produce. The farther away your food comes from, the more you are directly contributing to climate change.

Adopt a 100 km / mile rule for choosing your food. Don't believe the new TV commercials. Bleach that's 'kinder and gentler' is still what it is – Bleach! Don't use it!
A sheet of paper has two sides. Use both of them, then recycle.
