Preparation
- Create the front side of the heart, the same size as the heart back (remember the seam allowance), using your desired technique. (see note)
- Trace the heart outline that is included on the Cross Stitch Hearts pattern. Alternatively, trace one of the freebie Heart patterns. In either case, be sure to add 1/4" seam allowance.
If you plan on makng more than a couple of pouffy little hearts, make a plastic template of the heart shape.
Do the Creative
- For each Pouffy Heart, cut a fabric back.
- With right sides together, pin heart front and back to each other.
- Cut the ribbon the desired length, and stuff inside the pinned heart, leaving the 2 ribbon ends sticking out past where the seam will e sewn.
- Sew the 2 sides using small stitches. Sew around the heart leaving an opening, along one side – away from bottom point, to insert stuffing.
- Being careful not to damage the heart, turn it ride-side-out.
- Finger-press the seams all around the heart.
- Insert small pieces of stuffing until the heart is pouffy.
- Finish by turning the unfinished edges of the opening inside. Sew closed using an invisible stitch.
