Description

You can make Tempura at home! The secret is in the Cold batter meeting the Hot oil.

Ingredients

  • 1 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 c corn starch
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1⁄2 t salt
  • 3⁄4 c water (ice cold) per batch

Instructions

Supplies: 
wet & dry measuring cups
measuring spoons
jar with lid
whisk
Method: 

Especially if you are a Tempura lover, prepare a few batches of batter mix (without the water) and store in the pantry, ready for use.

Measure and combine all dry ingredients well. Store in jar with lid.

When ready to use, add ice cold water to 3/4 C of batter. Whisk to blend well.  Keep wet batter refrigerated while preparing vegetables and heating cooking oil.
