UnYoke for Lifestyle

Categories:

My lady (Tenaj DaCosta) and I are frustrated with all the gotta-dos that lock us into a schedule and location.  We're both spirits who love to create solutions and enjoy life.

We've decided to disconnect our lives from any particular physical location.  We want flexibility to time our life to our personal rhythms.  Then we can write, create and consult nearly anywhere and still maintain our responsibilities and businesses.  We love our businesses because we get do what we love and help people live better lives.

The goal is to design a lifestyle that allows us to move about, as we wish, with minimal details that needed to be considered before we can go.

In the past, we have often scheduled a trip or vacation and not been able to go because 'something came up'.

Challenge 1. Our businesses require access to the internet so the first step is to explore various traveling internet options.  The technology has come a long way and has several wireless broadband options.  I'm sure the cost of these options will come down in the future.

Challenge 2.  We have 6 cats.  While it is possible to get a cat sitter (surrogate slave), we prefer the option to take them with us.  So we bought an RV with a floor plan that allows flexibility for all 8 of us to live together (we think).  We are in the process of rebuilding the RV to our mechanical (my domain), beautification (Tenaj's domain) and catpeople (furry royals domain) standards.

Challenge 3.  We currently sell physical product which means we need to manufacture and ship.  This locks us into a location and schedule.  We're switching to eProducts, so our customers get instant delivery of their order no matter where we are.

The physical products will not be gone.  Our business will be training other people to manufacture and ship.  This allows us to concentrate on the consultation side of our businesses.

Challenge 4.  The phone.  Communication with customers is vital.  At least this issue is simple to solve.  We don't use cell phones because, a. we don't like that we can be tracked, b. they cook your brain, c. they make us too available and d. my wife knows I'll use it while I'm driving and have an accident.  We've switched to internet-based phones to allow us to pick up calls (or receive FAXes) wherever we are.  This option gives us the best balance to maintain contact while having time to just Be who we are.
