Description

Easy to make spice bags that flavour all sorts of favourite dishes.

Ingredients

  • 5 T dried parsley
  • 2 large bay leaves, finely crumbled
  • 2 T dried thyme
  • 2 T marjoram
  • 2 T celery seed
  • 2 T peppercorns

Instructions

Supplies: 
six 6" squares cheesecloth
pinking shears / decorative
edge scissors
bowl
measuring spoons
36" kitchen twine
hand-made gift tag
ribbon (optional)
recycled wide mouth jar with lid
Method: 

Cut the cheesecloth into squares with pinking shears.

Measure the herbs into the bowl; stir to blend well.

Lay the cheesecloth squares separately on the table. One at a time, place 2 level teaspoonfuls of the mix into the centre of each square. (Stir mix after each serving to ensure an even blend in each bag).

Draw up the sides of the square. Tie each bag tightly with a 6" piece of twine, using a double knot.

Print mix name, date and instructions for use on the tag; punch a hole in the tag; thread ribbon; attach to jar.
