Description

The easiest, most delicious, people will fall at your feet, shortbread cookies of all time!

Ingredients

  • 4 c flour, all purpose
  • 1 lb butter, room temperature
  • 1 c sugar, granulated

Instructions

Supplies: 
measuring cup
bowl, large
fork (to mix dough)
spoon, serving
9 x 12 " ovenproof, glass baking dish
oven mitts
sharp knife
cooling rack(s)
Method: 
  1. In a large bowl, cream together butter & sugar. Add flour all at once. Work mixture into a smooth dough. Mixture is ready when it holds together as one dough ball.
  2. Press evenly into a 9 x 12' ovenproof, glass pan. (No need to grease pan) Smooth dough with a large spoon to make level all around. Bake @ 350° for 17 - 20 minutes.  Cookies are ready when the top is golden brown and underneath looks bubbly.
  3. Remove pan from oven. Cool about 10 minutes. Cut into 48 squares while cookies are still warm to avoid braking them when cutting . Remove form baking pan. Finish cooling on cooling racks.

    Travels well. Freezes well.
